‘Inquiry & Integrating Thinking into the Curriculum‘ is an intensive workshop demystifying thinking skills. In this workshop we will focus on:

  • Understanding why and how we think
  • Understanding the influence of thinking on the education of the child, the teaching-learning process & on society
  • Understanding the types of and processes of thinking
  • Integrating thinking skills and the enquiry method in the day to day classroom activities; the strategies, activities, questions, worksheets etc
  • Questioning, assessment and correction strategies used in a thinking skills curriculum
  • Incorporating – Habits of the Mind, CORT Thinking, Six Thinking Hats, Mind Mapping and other approaches used by Edward de Bono and Tony Buzan
This workshop directly impacts lesson planning, classroom management & assessment and helps create thinkers amongst your students. To help participants internalize these concepts, a mix of theory, practical activities, experiential learning and simulations are used.

Speaker Profile
 
Founder of the Mindsprings Group and a Speaker at the National and International fora, Usha has authored the English textbook series ‘Empowering English’; two resource books ‘Writing with Ease’ and ‘Grammar with Ease’; and a revolutionary series in language learning titled ‘Language with Ease’.

Usha’s experience ranges from senior high and college education in India and Hong Kong (under the British curriculum), to gifted education in Auckland, and accelerated primary learning in Jakarta (under the Australian curriculum). Her academic background is in English and Education. Her qualifications include a Bachelors Degree in English & Psychology, a Masters degree in English, a Bachelors Degree in Education in English, a Masters Degree in Education, a TEFLA from Cambridge University, London, and a High School Teaching Certificate in English and History from ‘Auckland College of Education’, New Zealand.

Usha has created a differentiated English reading programme for young readers; an effective oral language programme for first generational learners; a specialized curriculum for gifted learners and a unique approach to teaching children with learning struggles. She is a much sought-after educational consultant to many school groups and actively champions the cause of Gifted Education in India.
