Children produce incredible work when they are free of pressure. It is necessary to be patient and to allow a child to enjoy the imperfections of the process before we expect wonderful products each time. There is a lot of peer learning that happens when a variety of original work is produced. This must be factored into the total benefits of the Mindsprings Enrichment Programme experience.
Assignment November 2004: Point of View – Grade 7
Little green men arrive in India. Evidence has shown that they come from a weird, distant planet and have come to do a report on both genius beings and humble hooligans and decided that India was the best place to find a combination of both. Our most ingenious humans turned out to be ‘outstandingly insane’.
How would the government/press/children and Bollywood report it?
Two green men landed in Delhi. Immediately afterwards all the government parties began arguing on who could use the alien as a party symbol. After the riots, the solutions for party symbols were: Alien holding up his hand; green man smelling a lotus and green guy riding a bicycle. To gain popularity, the PM said that if people gave more taxes and charity he would round up all the green guys and make a zoo. In the five years they took to find a plot of land, the green guys had already left the planet.
All the green guys writing reports on India were interested in the press. Their description was translated as “a horde of pesky earthlings with big weapons shooting out yellow light called kha-ma-rahs. The press was outraged. To add to their woes, their articles on the tsunami were being rejected as the TOI decided to go green for a week. Journalists are on strike.
The only intelligent behaviour that the green guys witnessed was the children’s. Being of the same height, the children made friends with three aliens and together revolted against homework. The teacher was chased out and all school was demolished. These kids returned to Jupiter with the greenies.
And finally………. actors of age 3, 4 and 5 are earning millions because they are needed to play the parts of aliens in 1367 films, featuring the same stupid story. Yet every time a new film is made titled “Jupiter ke hare bhare log” the whole city of Mumbai waits in long queues to watch it.
‘THE INSANE BEHAVIOUR OF THE EARTHLINGS’ was the title of a number of books on Jupiter.

‘Mass Poaching Scheme Uncovered’
Hundreds of innocent wolves killed
A brilliantly planned and executed wolf-poaching scheme has just been uncovered. The mastermind of the whole operation was someone called Little Red Riding Hood. So far, 382 is the wolf death toll. The trial is supposed to be 19 days from now, but expect them to be tried 13 years from now. Here is the modus operandi: The forest they operated in had only one main path and one entrance which also served as an exit. This entrance was guarded by a checkpoint. Every few days there would be a jungle patrol in which jungle officials would check whether anyone was poaching and things like that. So Little Red would pass the checkpoint with the excuse of visiting her grandma. Half way along the path, where most of the wolves lived she would scatter pieces of chicken she carried this in a bag which was
Every few days there would be a jungle patrol in which jungle officials would check whether anyone was poaching and things like that. So Little Red would pass the checkpoint with the excuse of visiting her grandma. Half way along the path, where most of the wolves lived she would scatter pieces of chicken she carried this in a bag which was supposedly ‘goodies for grandma’. This point was called the ‘chicken point’. She would scatter the chicken all the way to a dirty disused shed called ‘grandma’s house’. Sooner or later a wolf would follow the trail and arrive at the shed whereupon another member of the gang, who, because she was the backup grandma, was called ‘Grandma’, would do the wolf in.
Assignment: Prisons and Wars – Grade 7
Write a page in the diary of a soldier to show his emotional state
A DEFENDER’S DIARY
I am a defender. I feel very nervous when the castle is under attack because the fate of the castle rests in my hands. I know when war is going to begin because I can hear the warning siren and the troops marching towards the castle. On the horizon, I can see distant figures of thousands of men and horses. I can almost smell the mud rising in the air as the troops stamp on the ground. The excitement and tension builds up and is waiting to be let out. In a war, nobody can be trusted and ones guard can never be let down. I am now preparing for bloodshed, death and a different type of slavery. As the war begins, I can almost taste the blood of the dead in the air. However, I know that when this war is won, freedom will embrace the soldiers.
Assignment: Letter Writing – Grade 4
You are a teacher and you suspect that one of the children in your class is a crocodile. Write to his parent about this and give her examples of how you came to have this suspicion.
Dear Mrs. Wonder Bottom,
Your son Kroko, is acting very peculiar and I think not very human. For example, yesterday at lunch, Charlie came back with half his head. The day before that, Kroko reported in with strange lumps and sharp teeth. And today, he’s green! I think he should change schools or move to another country.
P.S. Please don’t sharpen his teeth and make him eat at home.
