Description

The Magic Box series 3+ is a set of 8 books comprising of Numeracy, Literacy, Phonics & sight words, Environment & Science, Art & Construction, Critical Thinking stories, Talking pictures, and Oral activities. It is an integrated curriculum and contains progressive STEM activities. It is a storehouse of ideas that will stimulate and introduce the 3+ learner to the wonders of the world that surrounds him/her.

In this book, Numeracy and Logic Programme 3+, the child learns to recognise shapes, sizes, numbers and measurements in the world around. Activities in thinking, observation, recognising patterns, and the use of songs, dances, games, and actions for frequency of learning make this a unique book. The child will enjoy it.

English Vocabulary and Literacy Programme 3+ aims to look at words generated from letters of the alphabet to make meaning through games and letter poems. Words are not random but categorised into target vocabulary for home, school, feelings, animals, senses, and textures. It engages the child to work with words that enlarge awareness, and familiarises him/her with areas that can be discussed. Letter formation activities are offered as precursors to writing the alphabet. Direction of letter writing is clearly given, and tips offered on handwriting.

In this book,  Phonics Sight and Rhyme Reader 3+  we have begun the child on the reading journey of acquiring very small two and three letter words, or common recurrent words in reading. It is a programme that will aid good language, oral skills, and get the child to acquire 50 – 80 words by the end of the year. It has chants, games, and practice sentences. A unique book.

In this book,  Environment, Culture and Science 3+ children learn about their senses, safety, environment, community and festivals. They extend their knowledge of animal life, seasons, and space. In science, the basics of living and non-living things, machines, day and night, matter, natural and man-made materials, life and plant cycles, and STEM experiments become a great blueprint to understand and use the real world as a huge book of learning.

In this book, Art and Construction 3+ children will experience a variety of materials for sense perceptions and use them artistically to learn how their environment works. They will use designs like lines, spirals, shapes for picture filling. Art is precursor practice for handwriting. In addition, Construction activities will enable problem solving, spatial awareness, imagination and vocabulary.

Critical Thinking Stories 3+ , has a set of simple fables and stories in spectacular colour. Many of these are given a humorous modern twist. Example: The crow who was contestant no 12 in the “Birds can Sing” contest, the squawking parrots who almost died with their impatience, Lila the clever lamb who outwitted the wolf and other classic stories are told with vivid descriptions. They are not simply delightful to be read to the child, but have questions that promote thinking, reflection, and discussions on ethical, social and emotional issues. The child empathises with the characters to do this. A lateral thinking story in the end is based on STEM.

Talking Pictures 3+ is a unique book that uses pictures related to the alphabet as a vantage point to engage children in discussions, science and math activities, critical thinking, and sight word recognition. Numbers, colours, hidden objects, factual observations, personal responses and STEM science and art are in focus here. Again, there is a smattering of letter formation in focus. Carefully curated videos make this book incredibly rich and varied.

In this book, Oral Activities for Fluency 3+ we have a selection of delightful poems with talk abouts around the themes. The games and conversation section allows children to pick up the language naturally. This book is a must for all caregivers who want children to speak in English ?uently and effortlessly. A much needed part of the curriculum is here.
